    More Than a Song

    Therefore, I urge you,f brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice,g holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship- Romans 12:1

    Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.- John 4:23

    The Bible teaches us that worship is a lifestyle, and our goal at Grace is to be the kind of worshipers the the Father seeks.

    Although there is no sanctioned style of music in the Bible, God's Word does give us some guidelines

    • Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. - Colossians 3:16
    • Enter his gates with thanksgiving;
          go into his courts with praise.
          Give thanks to him and praise his name. - Psalm 100:4
    • Praise God in his sanctuary;
          praise him in his mighty heaven!
      Praise him for his mighty works;
          praise his unequaled greatness!
      Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn;
          praise him with the lyre and harp!
      Praise him with the tambourine and dancing;
          praise him with strings and flutes!
      Praise him with a clash of cymbals;
          praise him with loud clanging cymbals.
      Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord!- Psalm 150:1-6

    Our prayer is not "God, bless our service", but rather, "May our sacrifice of praise, bless the heart of God"
